KIN-ADV2WUSB

Kinesis Advantage 2 Keyboard

This keyboard has been designed to address major RSI (Repetitive Strain injury) risks associate with using the keyboard to promote maximum comfort.

Ideal for touch typists, the Kinesis Advantage 2 has two scooped concave shaped key wells. These reduce the need to extend the hands and fingers and keep the hand in a more neutral, handshake posture.

Containing the all-new SmartSet™ Programming Engine, the keyboard allows the user to customise its layout with ease. It can switch between the QWERTY and Dvorak layouts with the touch of a button, and its massive 2MB of on-board memory (1000x the original Advantage) means that there is plenty of space to store macros and build custom layouts.
Model

Designed to address the needs of touch-typists with musculo-skeletal problems, the Kinesis Advantage 2 has two scooped concave shaped keywells. These reduce the need to extend the hands and fingers and keep the hand in a more neutral, handshake posture. Containing the all-new SmartSet™ Programming Engine, the keyboard allows the user to customise its layout with ease. It can switch between the QWERTY and Dvorak layouts with the touch of a button, and its massive 2MB of onboard memory (1000x the original Advantage) means that there is plenty of space to store macros and build custom layouts.

  • Sophisticated design to address the needs of touch-typists with musculoskeletal problems.
  • Individually contoured “scoops” match finger length and position for neutral posture and relaxed home positions.
  • Space, return and backspace keys operated by thumb rather than little finger.
  • Multi-macro programming capability to process repeat keystrokes at the touch of a button.
  • Advantage2 - Black available in UK layout as standard.
  • Advantage2 Silver, Switchable and Linear Feel available in US layout only.

See also:

  • USB wired ‘plug and play’ connection.
  • Split keyboards are designed to adapt to the natural posture of your hands, arms and shoulders so you can work with good posture. The split and angled design avoids wrist pronation and twisting of the hands which causes the carpal tunnel in the wrist to constrict.
  • Concave key wells are scooped into a bowl shape to reduce hand and finger extension and relax muscles.
  • Separating the key wells positions the arms at shoulder-width to keep wrists straight and perpendicular to the home row to reduce abduction and ulnar deviation. Ulnar deviation occurs when the wrist is bent outward in the direction of the little finger which causes the carpal tunnel in the wrist to constrict.
  • Thumb clusters include frequently-used keys such as Enter, Space, Backspace, and Delete to redistribute the workload away from your relatively weaker and overused little fingers to stronger thumbs.
