Sitting Height Selection: 4.5 – 59.5 cm pre-selected as standard. With manual height adjustment (gas), the user has a limited opportunity to change the seat height. The height adjustment is activated with a lever under the seat, which means that the user only can adjust the seat height downwards while sitting in the chair. If the seat height has to be raised again, the user must get up to increase the seat height again. We recommend a chair with a gas spring if the user has the energy throughout the day to get in and out of the chair and adjust the seat height.
When choosing a seat height, it is important to consider the user’s size, level of function, the needs and where the chair will be used. Note: If the user’s height is below 165cm, we only recommend using the low seat height options.

Can be recommended for users who need to “walk” the chair around while sitting and reach from e.g. base cabinets and up to a good sitting height at the kitchen table.

Fabric Options
Fabric Selection: Renewed Loop Dark Grey (60341) pre-selected as standard.
When choosing upholstery, it is important to know where the chair will be used and whether the chair will be used by multiple users. Fabric provides the best seating comfort and is often breathable. Synthetic leather is waterproof, can often be disinfected and is easy to clean – a benefit for multi user environments and institutions.
Renewed Loop Fabric:
Is a quality fabric that has good breathability and optimal seating comfort – even over many hours. The fabric has a good abrasion resistance and can be cleaned. Not recommended for multiple users.
Renewed Loop is made from 100% recycled polyester, containing 3-10% textile waste, and is fully recyclable. This textile meets the most demanding standards for quality and design, ensuring a long lifespan and excellent performance. The textile is certified by STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® and the EU Ecolabel for its environmentally friendly production.

Has a comfortable surface, but the seat can get a little “warm” with many hours of uninterrupted use, as synthetic leather is not breathable as, e.g., polyester or wool. It can be a little slippery to sit on. We recommend it for several users as it can be easily cleaned.

Seat Type:
When choosing a seat type, it is important to know the user’s size and support needs when sitting down. The seat must be the right size for the user to have the best sitting position and be supported correctly. Therefore, it is also important to change to another seat or size if the user’s needs change. When measuring the user, you must measure where the user is widest while sitting down (e.g. at the hips or over the thighs).
It is possible to change the seat on the VELA chair if the user’s needs change. With the proper support (maybe even accessories), you prevent the user from sitting badly or slipping on the seat.

A Coxit seat can be adapted to the individual user and the specific situation. The flaps on the split seat can be adjusted independently and allows the user to sit with an open hip angle, an advantage for users with reduced mobility in the hips as well as users with amputations or stiff legs.

Backrest Type

When choosing a backrest, be aware of the user’s need for support versus free movement. A backrest shall provide support and stability at the lumbar and upper part of the pelvis so that the user receives support in the sitting position. Therefore, the backrest must have a height that fits the user’s back to ensure free movement at the shoulder and upper back. In addition, it is important to clarify whether the user can sit stably without help or needs body supports to maintain a good, upright sitting position.

ALB: Is a unique backrest with a split up back and lumbar support. This backrest provides optimal support to the lumbar and pelvic regions, supporting the natural lumbar curve and promoting an upright posture, which can help prevent or ease back pain.
The lumbar support is moved easily and smoothly forwards and backwards using a handle, which provides variation and support in the lumbar region. The upper part of the back meanwhile retains its angle in relation to the pelvis, so that the user is also guaranteed support for the upper part of the back. Comes in three sizes.

Support:
Is well padded and has built-in side supports. The built-in side support, support from the hip and up to under the armpit, provide support in the sitting position and guide the user to its midline. The Support backrest can be adjusted in height, depth, and angle to obtain as much support as possible in the sitting position.
There is the possibility of head restraints. We recommend this backrest if the user uses a lot of energy to stay upright or possibly gets tired during the day. If the user falls out to the side a lot, this type of support is not enough. You can also select body supports and harnesses for this backrest.

Foldable Armrest.
The foldable armrest is easily folded down, e.g. for sideways transfer, or help with getting dressed. Furthermore, the height and lateral position of the armrest can be adjusted.
Brakerod Options
Brakerod Options:
A reliable brake is an essential feature on the VELA chair, as the brake creates the necessary stability and safety that makes activity, learning and independence possible. The central brake provides a stable and safe seat for the day’s many different chores. The central brake also makes it safe to get up and sit down in the chair. The brake must be easily accessible to the person who is going to use it. Therefore it is important to know who will use the chair’s brake.
It may be that the chair user is the only one that needs to use the brake, that only a helper must use the brake, or that everybody must have the possibility to brake the chair’s wheels. If the floor is uneven or the person has involuntary movements, the chair may need brakes on all four wheels to have a completely safe chair.
This chair is, as standard, equipped with a combined foot brake/brake lever on the right side.
