Unlocking Workplace Potential: The Pivotal Role of Habitat

A truly healthy workplace habitat isn’t just about good lighting and comfortable chairs—it’s about designing spaces that support both team dynamics and individual needs. A well-thought-out workplace balances vibrant areas for collaboration with quiet zones for deep focus, ensuring that employees can communicate effectively, work together productively, concentrate without distraction, and find space for contemplation.

Workplaces That Support Wellbeing

The ‘4Cs’—Communication, Collaboration, Concentration, and Contemplation—are the foundation of a workspace that enhances both performance and wellbeing. (Learn more about the 4Cs here). Our Healthy Workplace Environment service ensures that office design and ergonomics complement individual wellbeing, aligning seamlessly with our Healthy Thinking approach.

By considering everything from neurodiversity needs to the impact of sleep, menopause, and sensory impairments, we create workplaces that don’t just function well—they actively support the people within them.

Consultancy

The workplace environment is a major resource for any organisation looking to both attract talent and reinforce their culture. The physical environment influences how people think and behave, as well as impacting their productivity and wellbeing. We apply and share our knowledge and expertise from first contact through to completion, creating a setting that works best for your business and your staff. We can help you create great environments, whether you need a few chairs, desks and storage or a multi-faceted refit with zones and spaces to encourage Activity Based Working.

Project Management

Once project elements have been agreed, our team will work with your in-house personnel and other external partners to ensure that the project is delivered to specification, on time and on budget.

Space Planning

Create the space that will work for you and your people. We can help whether you just need to plan your space more efficiently to fit in extra desks or want to create a whole new workplace environment to improve the way your personnel interact. Our Interior Design partners can carry out site surveys, furniture audits and create 3D visuals so you can contextualise and visualise the outcome.

Choosing the right furniture products can be daunting, even before you start trying to visualise the most suitable colour and fabric.

Showroom Visits

We work with leading showrooms based in Clerkenwell, the London hub where latest designs and trends are showcased.
On request, we organise showroom tours that enable our clients to ‘see, feel and visualise’ furniture. Seeing products ‘in the flesh’ and in context provides ideas and inspiration to help make the right choices for your own project. It is also a great opportunity to catch up with the latest workplace trends.

After Sales Service

Our Customer Service Department is known to go the extra mile and deliver an outstanding after-sales experience. Following our expert delivery and installation process, our Customer Service Team will be on call to answer your questions, address any enquiries and ensure your ongoing satisfaction.

Biophilia

Wellbeing in the workplace is taken more seriously. Organisations are increasingly aware that creating the optimum work environment can have a positive impact on their people and this includes connecting people with nature and bringing the ‘outdoor indoors’.
Our steadily expanding biophilia product range includes stunning, utterly maintenance-free moss and plant pictures using real plants, as well as beautiful fine art images that can be recreated on vinyl and almost any flat surface, including acoustic panels and furniture.

The Outcome

Happy, engaged and productive staff.

Ergonomics Live: How a Floor Walk Delivered Immediate Impact

The Challenge

A technical team operates in a highly controlled indoor environment, undertaking a combination of intensive screen work and physical tasks involving delicate materials.

Despite having adjustable desks, ergonomic seating, regular DSE assessments and manual handling training, management wanted an independent review to ensure that workstation setups and working habits had not drifted over time.

Our Approach

Osmond Ergonomics & Wellbeing delivered a half-day Ergonomics in Practice Floor Walk, combining:

  • A practical workshop on posture, fatigue and workstation setup
  • One-to-one workstation reviews carried out in the live working environment

Advice was tailored to the team’s specialist equipment, space limitations and physical demands.

The Impact

Out of 14 staff, approximately 50% of workstations were adjusted on the day.

These small but critical changes, including chair height, screen position, and input device placement, immediately reduced strain and improved comfort. The session also refreshed awareness of good working habits, helping prevent the slow return of poor posture that leads to musculoskeletal issues.

Client Feedback

“The session was perfectly pitched for the team. The preparation beforehand made it highly relevant, which is why the team were so engaged.”

Why This Matters

Even in well-managed workplaces, ergonomic drift is common. A simple floor walk delivers quick, measurable improvements that protect wellbeing, reduce injury risk, and boost productivity.

As many services move towards virtual delivery for speed and convenience, this case also highlights the enduring value of being physically present in the working environment. Observing people at work and providing live, individualised feedback allows for nuanced, practical adjustments that simply cannot be replicated remotely.

That’s what makes our floor walking service so valuable and impactful for both individuals and organisations.
